Incident Command System for Schools - Manzanola

Why should you attend?

With the passage of Senate Bill 181, School Districts in Colorado must become compliant with the National Incident Management System (NIMS).  The Department of Public Safety is determining what portions of NIMS will apply to the School Districts.  While that has yet to be determined, we have been assured by Public Safety, that Districts will be required to follow the Incident Command System (ICS).

Who will be presenting? 

David B Sullivan is contracted to the Colorado School Districts Self Insurance Pool working on the Pool’s Emergency Management Program. He previously served as Deputy Director and Director of the Office of Emergency Management for the City and County of Denver prior to retiring in 2004.

Mr. Sullivan holds a BA in History from Rhode Island College and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Colorado, Denver.  He is a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) and served as a member of the CEM Commission for the International Association of Emergency Managers and as the Commission Chair from 2004-2006.  Past affiliations include Member and Chair of the Governor’s Advisory Council for Emergency Medical Services, Past President of the Colorado Emergency Management Association, and Past President of the Region VIII Chapter of the International Association of Emergency Managers.

As a member of the Wyoming Air National Guard and Commander of the 187^th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, he deployed in command positions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Mr. Sullivan retired from the Air National Guard in 2007.
